Ultranet has been developed specifically to suit New Zealand primary and secondary schools. It is accessed via the web, has password protected pages, a safe and controlled student portfolio and social networking area, messaging, a parent portal and virtual classrooms where teachers can customise their own pages using built-in modules for things such as wikis, discussions, quizzes, resources, slide shows, assignments and calendars. It integrates well with other Web 2 tools including Google Apps. A mobile app is also available for iPhones, iPods and iPads. Most schools use Ultranet as their main school website.
